Georgia McDonald

COO, LaunchVic

Georgia McDonald is the Chief Operating Officer at LaunchVic – the Victorian Government agency responsible for Start-ups. Georgia’s role is responsible for leading the delivery of strategic programs for founders, investors and government procurement; helping set the strategic direction; ensuring the smooth operation of the company; and providing strong and clear leadership internally to LaunchVic and its people, and externally to stakeholders.

From 2015 to 2020 she was the Director of the Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship, a centre for entrepreneurial capability building at the University of Melbourne.  The Wade Institute provides leading entrepreneurial education with a range of programs that focus on the intersection of knowledge acquisition, personal development, practical action and access to networks.

Georgia was the first employee in and led strategic business growth, built and nurtured relationships across the start-up and commercial ecosystem, and created a world-leading runway to launch Australia's brightest entrepreneurs.

Before she joined the Wade Institute, Georgia worked at the Centre for Ethical Leadership (CEL) and worked closely with leading researchers in unconscious bias and learned how leaders can adapt their thinking to ensure better business outcomes.

Georgia completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Philosophy at La Trobe University, Melbourne. She was born on and continues to live on Wurundjeri land. Georgia has two sons who share her passion for off-road camping and Australia’s beautiful landscapes, flora and animals.
