Ian is the Founder and CEO of Blockchain Assets. He holds qualifications in Commerce and Law and has an international business career of more than 30 years.
Ian began researching and investing in blockchain technology in 2016 after attending a tech start-up awards event where his own start-up was shortlisted. Ian was captivated by the potential of this emerging technology and with his background in financial services he saw the opportunity to become Australia’s first crypto asset fund manager and so on 1 July 2017, he formed the Blockchain Early Opportunities Fund.
Prior to his interest in technology, Ian was a Director at Investment Bank Credit Suisse where he spent 14 years as Head of Executive Compensation in the Asia Pacific Region. During his time with Credit Suisse Ian dealt with multiple regulators in more than 15 different jurisdictions, he was responsible for setting the compliance culture within his area and he was on the global management committee of his function. Prior to Credit Suisse, he spent 8 years as Senior Manager at PwC where he acted as Senior Tax and Business Advisor to multinational and local corporations investing in Hong Kong, China and the Asia Pacific Region. Upon returning to Australia Ian ran his own successful consultancy advising a diverse range of public and private Boards on corporate governance issues around executive remuneration.
Outside of work Ian is the Chairman of The Mandalay Projects, an anti-human trafficking organisation that he established in 2003.
