The AI Leadership programme will take place on Monday, 7 December 2026, at The Platform in Perth, Western Australia, and will happen right after West Tech Women within the official West Tech Fest satellite time slot.
The three key leadership requirements come together in the current technology ecosystem: ensuring that humans remain accountable for decisions made by automation, developing team capabilities without falling for the hype surrounding AI, and coordinating governance standards throughout Western Australia, the other states, and the adjacent Asia-Pacific innovation centres.
Western Australia offers the perfect setting to test these issues, with fast-growing AI adoption in the resource sector, the public sector, and among startups, alongside practical governance models focused on tangible outputs.
The programme brings together startup founders, small and medium-sized business leaders, C-suite executives, government officials, academics, and delegates from other countries in order to go beyond simply using software, to put human judgement under pressure, and to become skilled at leading hybrid teams made up of both humans and AI.
AILA 2026 combines practical AI skill-building with leadership and regional collaboration through two key sessions:
AI Leadership Sprint Workshop | 1:30 PM–2:30 PM
An interactive boardroom simulation where participants learn how to work effectively with AI, question AI outputs, identify errors, and develop practical workplace guidelines.
WA AI Hub Leadership Forum | 1:30 PM–2:30 PM
A strategic discussion bringing together business leaders, government representatives, and Asian technology delegates to explore AI governance, regulatory compliance, trust, and executive accountability.
Key Takeaways
